Any advice? :)

Hi all!
I'm considering buying an Impreza Hatchback/Estate 2002-2007 models with the selectable low range for an idea I have. Was looking at 2.0L petrol versions, but have seen there is also 1.5L engines?
What would a better engine option be, If my idea goes ahead I could be doing over 30k miles in a year probably mostly hard miles too, would the be up for this with a little bit of work? As there usually pretty cheap! What should I be looking out for if I was going to look?
Big plans on a lifted build if it goes ahead!
Thanks! 🙂

1.5L could be very wheezy depending on what kind of work the car will be doing. 2.0L would be a better option or if you need some grunt the 2.0L WRX is lump is a good solid engine.
Biggest issue will be rot in the rear turret areas. Check VERY carefully in the towers right at the top on the side facing the outside of the car. They are a weak point and easily go un-noticed. Likewise the front portion of the rear wheel arches but on the inside which will mean stripping the inner carpeting and sound deadening off. Just below where the rear seat back slots into place would be the starting point to check.
