Standard Brake pad recommendations for a 2005 WRX
Discussion
This is going to sound really stupid, but here we go. What is the standard brake pad size for a 2005 2 litre WRX?
Secondly, I’m looking for brake pad recommendation, it’s for fast road, but I am planning a track day or two, so ideally I’d like a brake pad that can handle being pushed a little. I’s mainly a road car, so if there is a choice then lean towards road use.

if you want a cheap but good pad go to eurocarparts they do pagid pads for about 40 to 50£ they are very good for road use , don’t by the cheapest pagid pad as there are quite a few options , mintex are good as pre heat treated for track use , the others i’ve used are ebc red stuff which were good on track or yellow stuff , personally if you are sensible on track pagid for both should be fine plus a lot less £ than most
I currently use Black diamond predator pads from Demon tweeks, they have lots more bite than the cheap Mintex ones that were in there, and work perfect from cold also a massive improvement over standard, I'm using OEM spec (Brembo) discs. The pads were approx £47 for fronts and for the rears as I had great trouble finding a set of BD's so opted instead for a set of Brembo pads from ICP at £44.
It's definitely worth giving ICP a ring:

The guys there know their onions when it comes to Imprezas so you will be guaranteed of the right fitment. Also, it's well worth getting a full fitting kit for fronts and rears as well, they're not mega expensive and consist of new sliders, plates and clips. Demon tweeks were spot on with the fronts as well.
It is a fairly easy DIY job, as there's no need to bleed any of the system. The plates behind the pads do however rust, so a thin layer of grease on the new ones should keep them in good order. I also had to unsieze 2 of my calipers, which is a known and common issue on WRX's.

as above reds are more road intended , the yellow more track focused they apparently changed the yellows compound to make them more road friendly as in no warming up needed , the downside not as much bite compared to the eurocarparts pads plus a lot more £ , my money is still on eurocarparts pads , icp did some cosworth pads that were not too bad £ wise but i’m still sticking with the eurocarparts pads
