Hi all,

This year I'm planning to buy a sensible family saloon rather than my three door Fiesta. As I've wanted an Impreza since I was about 12 and watching Colin McRae powerslide, jump and handbrake turn his way round the world in the WRC, this seems like a sensible solution (I'm also thinking about a Jag S-Type so as to look like a villain in The Sweeney, but I digress).

I live in the ULEZ zone so classics are out, and my budget's about five grand. It looks like I should get a blobeye for that sort of money - given I have a Brixton postcode and my wife's only had her licence a year something modified and heavily boosted isn't what we're after. Plus, I live in a block of flats so a massive HKS drainpipe will only annoy the neighbours.

However, my wife is quite wee (about five foot three on a good day). Will she be able to fit first of all? Also, I'm assuming there's going to be lots of aftermarket bits like steering wheel bosses and the ability to move the seat mounts for rallying. I'd be interested to hear your experiences!

First ever post on Pistonheads, so thanks for all I've read thus far!

At 5ft3 she should be fine.

I have a standard unmodified blob WRX which my partner shares the driving of when we go on holiday and she is also 5ft3. Even at her height there's still a bit more adjustment left in the seat and wheel.

My Mrs is the same, 5'2 and 43kg's, she drives my blob all the time. The seats have a "riser" on them and she also uses a cushion, but she can drive it around no probs.
