What’s the recommended power that you can push a td04 turbo without too much strain

Agreed some a bit more, some a bit less.

You are recommended to have a few bits to max the turbo like air filter, fuel pump, free breathing exhaust and I recall earlier models had smaller injectors so they may need to be a consideration.

My old Impreza (many years ago!) made 278bhp with the TD04 turbo maxed out. I later got the 205 forged and replaced nearly everything including the turbo and took it too 373bhp.

Had 280 on mine. Decat up pipe, sports cat downpipe, 3rd cat removed. Need to use silicone hose turbo to intercooler and intercooler to throttle as the stock plastic will pop.

IIRC it ran about 20 pounds by around 3500rpm and tailed off to 12 at the top.
