I have a 2002 Impreza Wrx wagon on standard 17” wheels. Currently running awful non brand tyres so wanting to change. What’s recommended?

Pretty sure all tyres will have a brand... wink

As for choice, there is simply loads. Just hit up a few of the tyre sites and see what they have in the size you want.

Those are what I was looking at. I just haven’t seen many people run them on Subaru’s.

I have the MPSS on my 02 WRX. MY 05 WRX came with Eagle F1s which I will replace with MPS4 when the time comes.

They are the best performing tyre bar odd sizes/cut slicks for road cars IMO.

My car currently has 215/45/17 but I’ve seen some running 205/45/17. What’s actually the correct size for standard WRX wheels?

I liked the Bridgestone RE001 and RE002 on the Legacy GTB (same size 215/45R17) best out of what I've tried, in comparison Toyo T1R were ok for outright grip but horribly vague feeling with soft wobbly sidewalls and very puncture-prone, Eagle F1 GSD3 in between the two and better than T1R on sealed roads but disconcertingly floaty on gravel (might not be an issue for you depending where you live).

Those are all fairly old models of tyre now though and I'm currently running 16" wheels with boring touring tyres on it so can't give any more up to date sporty tyre feedback.

Often its a compromise between outright grip in good conditions vs how much capability they keep or lose when its less than ideal, so depends on your priorities.

for 17 / 7JJ (WRX) 215/4517 Load rating 87 Speed rating W according to Handbook.

If you have 7 1/2 JJ then 225/45 17 Load rating 90 Speed Rating W according to handbook.

32psi fronts, 33 psi rears for 215/45

32 psi fronts 28 psi rears for 225/45

I'm running Goodyear Excellence which are so-so, but they are due a change towards the Summer, i'll change them when they hit 2mm because I'm not really too enamoured with them, probably aiming for MPS4's or maybe Potenzas, depending upon if there's a deal going.

I’ve recently put a set of Pilot Sport 4 on my Gen5 Lib GT and v impressed so far. Replaced a set of Conti-somethings and improvement in ride, noise and grip is noticeable.

They need something with a stiff sidewall. XL rated.

RE005, Yoko V105, that kind of thing.
