Other than B road blasting etc . For everyday reliability and MPG etc .

You won't see much difference between an NA and a turbo when it comes to economy, in my experience.

What about running costs of turbo and insurance etc ? Just had to swap over a E39 turbo and that was £400 on its own .

I have 2 Imprezas with a combined mileage of 285k both on original turbos. Not worth worrying about. Parts on cars wear out and need replacing but Subaru turbos are not a known weakness. The little TD04s are cheap as chips anyway.

The forester turbo is in a low state of tune, also.

At most, you might want to consider 5K oil changes rather than 10K. If you can do it yourself, this is £50 or so.

My 2003 2.0xt has averaged a bit over 30mpg over the last 3 years. The economy doesn't seem to vary all that much - I have seen a range between 26mpg (cold/short trips) to 34mpg (longer A road journeys).

The extra power is well worth having. Overtaking is quick and safe.
