Hi Folks.
I’m a refugee from over on the TVR forum but I wonder if I can ask your advice.
I’m investigating the possibility of using an Impreza steering rack to convert my old TVR S2 to power steering.
I know that a first generation Impreza rack up to 1999 can be made to fit a TVR Chimaera and that a Chimaera rack can be made to fit an S2, so logic would suggest the Impreza rack can be made to fit an S2.
I believe that the rack is physically interchangeable between all the first generation Impreza models (including the WRX and the STi), but what I am having trouble finding out is what steering ratio each model used.
If anyone could let me know how many turns lock to lock each Impreza model had I would be very grateful (I can then work out which scrap rack to buy.)
Thanks and best regards
Don

Just checked and my 1998 WRX STI V4 Saloon is approx 2 and 3/4 lock to lock. The 2 door and RA models have a faster rack I believe

If i can remember that far back then there were 3 different types of rack on the turbo impreza, the Quick Rack by STI which was a 2.25, a fast rack (think that was 2.5) and a normal rack that you found on the UK turbo's and the likes.

You would have to look through any old documentation (Brochures etc) to see what each one had.

Quick rack is by far the best with the most feel to it, the ones on the likes of a UK turbo were vague in comparison and the fast racks were ok (as found on the type R's, P1 etc).
