Bit of a long shot and I've posted similar in the Electronics forum.......

The Nav/CD/Info double din that comes as standard in my 330 is pretty poor but I'd like to leave it as stock as possible. I've been pondering something like a Pure Highway that could piggyback onto it and be easily removed if required. That would give me DAB and maybe iPod access.

Anyone had a go with something like this?

Just replace the HU. You can reinstall it when you come to sell to keep it stock.

It's a fair point but I don't want to spend £500 on a unit when all I want is a decent radio. I'd rather spend that on tyres! smile

DAB HUs start from under £100. £50 more if you want a double-din. About the same as a halfway decent DAB adapter.

DAB adapters are fine but swapping in a new HU will be cleaner and more reliable. You'll also get an overall improvement in quality/performance, not just DAB.

Not in a hatch, but a hawk. I replaced the double din with a single DIn and a pocket (good for holding ipod/mp3 player). The pocket is actually an official subaru part.

i got these,

I prefer using my tomtom for sat nav, i have always found them much more accurate and better with traffic etc than the factory units, plus mine auto updates for free so no paying for an update by the stealer.

All fair points...but;

When I say I want a decent radio, I also want to retain sat nav, steering wheel controls, the aux in facility I've got, the daft info displays the OE unit has plus the existing hands free bluetooth as well.

I'd be clearer if I said I just wanted to ADD a decent radio. It seems from answers elsewhere, I can use the PURE item to do this for about £60.

Looking at going the whole hog with a full replacement double din unit from a quality known make (knowing I'd lose the info display) with a slight mod to the fascia plus the steering wheel control pack.......is somewhat more!

I'll give the PURE a go and see if it works.

PURE will do what you want it to do. Alpine make similar models if you prefer a more established brand.

Well as suspected an easy enough fit. The box of tricks seats neatly behind the glovebox out of sight, I only need the power cables and a decent earth so no need to break into the existing audio wiring, fed through the aux input in the centre cubby quite neatly and iPod now resident in the glovebox.

Not 100% sure about the mount but it's totally non-damaging and in a good spot where it doesn't get in the way so I'll see how I get on. Controls are proper easy to work out.

Used the window aerial that came with the kit which is nice and discreet and seems to work. (The blue clip is for a Toll Tag, nothing to do with this install!)

Overall seems a good package for the money and does exactly what I wanted. Well worth considering if you're looking to upgrade without serious car surgery.
