New head unit problem - Impreza
Discussion
I managed to get a pioneer MVH-AV290 for a deal at Halfords as it was their last one. I also purchased the harness adaptor I needed from ebay.
The unit fits fine and was easy to get in, although it sits slightly recessed from the fascia, however the main problem I'm having is that it only powers up for a minute or so, then turns itself off. This happens when the ignition is on "acc" and also when the engine is running, it just shuts down. When turning the ignition on and off, it doesn't reboot, just remains off.
I have checked the connections, and I returned it, asking if they could test it on their rig where it worked absolutely fine. Am I missing something that perhaps I need to do or connect that's unique to Subaru's?.
The car is an 04 WRX, with no other electrical additions such as amps or suchlike.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The old subaru unit works fine, and they tested the pioneer unit on their rig in the shop and it was fine, so I'm putting it down to the cheap chinese adaptor harness I got off ebay I reckon.
I'll probably have to stump up the obscene £12 Halfords want for one, but I guess it's right when they say "buy cheap, buy twice".
Big thanks to Subaru however for making installation a doddle though, 8 or so screws, 3 plugs, a fascia off and bingo.
