Hi,

I only have one keyfob for my car (2007 Forester Xten). I have bought another key (one button remote) off ebay, I'm presuming I can get the keypart cut and installed into the fob? And then reprogramme the transmitter somehow? does anyone have direction - both to reprogramme and for the key blank part?

Many thanks,

The easier route is via subaru , depending on your key type the transponder for the ignition can be coded by a non subaru person , but even that can be hard work to get it coded , the lock unlock feature on a key fob is unlikely to be programmed by any one other than subaru and would involve a new subaru key , the most likely outcome is a key that starts the car but won’t remotely unlock it or turn the alarm off , the benefit is it’s a cheaper way than the subaru route depending on what you are looking for key fob operation wise
