Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone knew which Impreza WRX/STI engines the Legacy GT B engines were more similar to?

Or more simply, how much HP can be had for minimum £ outlay.

Thanks.

The X/Y are from the Gen 4 Spec B. They're closer in strength to WRX engines (cast) and high compression, so not great for chucking wild amounts of boost at.

What you got? What you after?

At the moment im not in a position to buy, but i keep looking at the gen 4 jdm Legacies (GT Spec B?).

I was just curious how much HP the engines can produce A) Reliably B) Cheaply.

I understand that cheap and reliable never come together..

maybe £1000-£2000 on tuning.

I've not done a huge amount of research on the motor, as I decided just to leave mine close to stock.

£1K to £2K feel a little like no mans land for tuning budget. Bit over what you'd spend on an exahust and map. I believe the consensus is these can sit around 310.

Bit under what you'd be looking at to uprate the bottom end to go beyond that - plus you'd probably be wanting to find a later one with the 6 speed box to take it.

UKlegacy forums are probably where you'll find most info.
