Want a blob eye... 10k budget - spend my money!
Discussion
I've got a little bored of my BMW 520d m sport. I bought it cause I wanted the space and like the F10 design, but a combination of high maintenance costs and the worry of big bills and depreciation due to that n47 diesel engine concerns me.
I'm going to be putting the car on the market and should get between 10k and 11k for it.
So what blob eye inoreza should I be trying to find?
Do I go for a standard WRX, 5 or 6 grand mark? Can I afford a more special version?
These cars may lack the interior quality and comfort of a modern car but it was one of my dream cars as a kid. I don't wanna live life having never owned one. I just wanna make sure I buy the right one.

Try find a ‘widetrack’ (2005 Model year) Impreza STI - that’s the best of the Blobeyes.
Noted by having bigger PCD on wheels, easiest way to tell is looking at trim on the back quarters, the non widetrack is flat, whereas the widetrack has a lip to accommodate the wider track, plus lots of other changes.
Look for a good one with good history, great cars, you won’t regret it!

This one isn't too far from me. It's had a remap tho, may have been fked about with?
What's the benefit of this wide track model?

Shouldn't that be 2.5l if it's a UK widetrack? This one isn't too far from me. It's had a remap tho, may have been fked about with?

If it is 2.0l and a JDM that's even better.
2.5 was only Hawkeye onwards in the UK.
That looks like it’s been messed about with - bonnet vent etc etc.
You’ll find a nice clean original example for 10k.
Widetrack has DCCD, wider track, slightly longer wheelbase, updated interior, slightly wider wheels etc.
There’s the JDM editions, Spec C, S203 etc, but they are more money. JDM one’s recently imported are usually in better condition than UK ones.

Hurts cars in Bedford has a selection, and a good reputation on Scoobynet, not a widetrack but a very tempting blob a touch under 11 grand, you might be able to do a deal:

I'd agree with the above, if you can stretch it, go for a JDM STi, which is my next planned move in a couple of years or so if funds allow.

my JDM S203 is a different car altogether.
They are very nice cars and you are a lucky bugger!. I've not actually seen one on the road yet, they seem to be rare as hen's teeth. Definitely a "lottery win" car for me though. From what I can see, there has been three for sale in the UK through dealers - mine was imported last year and previous owner never registered it until this year - I took it off him a week after it was MOT’d. Had only done 10 miles in the UK when I bought it. Not done many since myself to be fair, but a total different car to my last 05 STI UK widetrack.
