I collected this today.

It's my first ever Subaru, and in all honesty was a wine driven impulse purchase whilst on holiday in Spain.

Needs work, but that's part of the fun, or at least I hope it will be.

As it's my first subaru project, any pointers or good ideas all welcomed!

I took a big punt on an 04 WRX last year. It had been sat, unserviced and unloved for the best part of 2 years, had an EML light on, the paintwork was covered in tree sap and generally unloved. Under inspection the brakes had seized, the inner gaiters perished and the headlights stopped working on one side.

After a couple of weeks replacing everything maintenance wise like belts, oils and fluids I set about rectifying the other issues.

ICP are a good source for parts, they're very knowledgable and used to have a "price match" on certain items. Opie is the best source for oils etc, I'm running Millers Nanodrive, Fricofin coolant and Millers brake fluid in mine now. My only advice is to avoid the cheap items that abound on Ebay and go for half decent or genuine stuff.

I'd definitely check the brakes first, plus change out all the fluids / belts etc. Godspeed offer a good and reliable brake caliper refurb service.

Good luck. Any interior pics?.

Thanks for the feedback buddy!

Yep it needs the timing belt doing, it came with an RCM ( think that's Roger Clark?.) new kit, just needs fitting.

Along with that will do all fluids and filters too.

The brakes are shot, it needs to disks and calipers all around.

I will take the chance now to replace with new vented disks, and four pot, perhaps 6 pot calipers for the front.

I've not taken any interior pictures yet, need to get all the spare wheels and tyres out of it.

It's generally pretty clean, my plan is to get it working and stable, so,pretty standard to make it reliable, i want to do some clubman closed stage road rallying in it.

So will start to build a list of what it will need.

I don't mind spending some money on it, but it's a Shed project at the end of the day!

Scooby Shed is up and running again now, after we fitted new idler pulleys and belts.

I have to say she is running very nice and smoothly for such an old girl too!
