Hi
As title, any suggestions for a double din replacement over the standard which will fit easily (I'll use the standard cage, but don't want to cut the fascia). Budget around £150 - £250. I don't need a Sat Nav included.

Car is an 04 Impreza.

TIA Pete.

Hi if you check recent forester sti posts about speaker upgrades and head units then all should be in there , halfords appear to have a good range of double din units , with built in bluetooth which would work well for you

Hi
Yep I've seen the thread, tbh I wasn't sure if the Impreza and forester fascia & cage are the same dimensions otherwise I'd have asked in there.
Might pop into Halfords tomorrow, see what they've got then price compare it on eBay.

they should be the same , i got a decent sony tuner/cd player for 105£ , some times depending on the age of the car you need an adaptor from the subaru loom to the back of the stereo but they are normally about 5£ on ebay and you just plug it in

Ahhh..yes I wondered if I needed an adaptor, handy to know they're just an ebay click away.. It had never occured to me that the fascia would be the same, at least I know now that if it fits a forester it'll fit an Impreza. Cheers for the heads up!.

One thing to note, from when I changed the head unit on my FSTI, was that its a very tight 2 din fit, and that it is also slightly inconveniently shallow due to a plastic bar at the back of the dash. If I had resolved to cutting that bar, there would have been no fitment issues, but it is worth noting that I strugged to get a JVC unit into the hole, but Sony and Alpine have been fine.

I am currently using an Alpine CDE-W235BT which is now discontinued and has been supesceded however it is a Parrot enabled thing and has been very good and reliable etc.

I know this is a bit over your budget, but I fitted one of these to my 05 STi, and it's brilliant.

Dead easy to fit - I've never fitted a car stereo and it took me and my brother a couple of hours from start to finish. I ran the hands free mic down the a-pillar seal, over the top of the footwell and in. It has a 'GPS signal booster' for your phone and runs of CarPlay or Mirror Link.
