Got a 2002 WRX STi which I have had from new, when its cold its lacking power and is hesitant, as it warms up it gets better but never completely goes away. I am thinking the MAF is at fault and unplugged it whilst it was running and the engine almost dies but recovers each time, is that a indication of a faulty MAF and if so where is the best place to get a replacement.

i think probably maf or engine temp sensor , the engine temp sensor is not silly money , maf is expensive , but you can buy non subaru mafs if you want , any club members nearby who wound let you borrow there maf for the day ? or take a chance second hand , i would exocet maf is the issue , try cleaning it and see if it helps , maf wise a clean tends to be a temporary solution , using an oiled after market filter by any chance ?
