Looking to get back into Scoob ownership. What would people say was the "best" out there for my budget. Ideally I'd like a bit more power than standard 350-400 bhp. I'm not interested in much more than that.

So far from reading on various forums the key ingredients seem to be:
JDM
2.0 block
Twin Scroll Turbo
DCCD

Anyone have any other pointers to help me on my quest..

If i was buying now, i'd try and find an original wrx sti type ra ( standard if possible ) V2/3/4.

If the right one became available, i'd be very tempted.

This.

Having previously owned a v3 Sti, I bought a JDM blob Sti (with DCCD) last year. Owning/driving it is awesome.

Twin scroll turbo, auto intercooler water spray, AVCS big port heads, v7 spec c cams, nitrided crank, 8,000 rpm red line and close ratio gearbox. Standard ECU allows for switchable maps and DCCD has the added benefits of Sti 'quick steering' rack and plated rear diff.

I used to own a Spec C (JDM only) which ticked all your boxes. Hard to find now though afaik.

Take a look at Hurst Cars Bedford - good choice of JDM stuff at the top end of your budget.

For me it would be a classic, no question. They are all great but a v6 sti Type-R ,P1 or RB5 would be my pick.

I think a P1 is a fair bit more money than that now though.

If it had to be a newage it would be a 2005/6 STi widetrack.

If it were my money...

I decided on a UK Spec 7 years ago but knew nothing about the Spec C's. Don't get me wrong I am still chuffed with my car but if I was buying another it would be one of these.

Yup. If the exchange rates weren't so dire at the moment, I'd be looking at a Hawkeye Spec C for my next car frown
