Forester STI remap
Discussion
If I'm going to be running a Forester STI on premium fuel does it need a remap?
I've put a deposit down on a Forester STI and included in the price is a remap for UK fuel. I asked the seller if that remap can be done on premium fuel because that's what I'll be running it on, but seller thinks that UK premium and Jap fuel are equivalent so it wouldn't need it. Is that the case?
Cheers

Thank you gents (and ladies?). That's sort of what I thought - that the importers may overlay a piece of software to allow it to run there or there abouts, but it needs a proper remap to optimise it.
I was looking at Cams today, seem to be a legitimate setup and nice and local too. Lands mid-November, hopefully some more precise dock dates next week.
Whilst I'm on, it's getting a full service including belts and tensioners as pert of the sale. Is there anything else I should be getting done at the same time? I'm thinking water pump and thermostat as a starter for 10. Plugs should be done with the service. If the engine's coming out I'm tempted to do a fly wheel and clutch whilst the access is available and the labour will be minimal to none. Would welcome any thoughts.

Personally, i'd agree a deal for you to do everything at the garage of your choice. If they are going to remap it, i'd want to see the copy licence for the Ecutek ( doubt they will have it ) as you have to pay for this on top of the remap.
Speak to Cams, Ade and also Adgespeed about a deal to do all the work and a remap and base your offer on that. I'd say 1k would get the belts, service, gear and diff oil and remap sorted. Bit more for a clutch. Always use genuine parts ( well worth it ) and good for the forseable.
Good luck. Mine up on stands at the moment. Just swapped the discs and pads and while the wheels away being refurbed.
Don't forget it will need a full underseal once you get it and planning to use this winter. Dinitrol the best

mine were both sealed already, by subaru it appeared but always worth going over it again , the car should be fine on sul
preferably shell or tesco 99 with out a remap , a remap makes a lot of difference to the car a lot more grunt and better mpg , but do a cat back and mid section delete it helps , i wound seggest on getting it mapped for bp 97 so it gives you the option of other suls when you can't shell or tesco , and a bit of a safety net so 97 can be used even if it's run on 99 , so if you get a bad tank of 99 it should still be ok , rear arb a good move , an ebay tracker for 30£ or so and possibly a better alarm , coilovers help a lot as standard suspension not great , i lowered about an inch , check for paint issues on rear side back window , if it not smooth check the area by the jacking point rear door drivers side for any rot
