I just did them on the forester , I found a very helpful clip on YouTube , but still a big big job , probably easier on ramps , it's do able for a fairly competant mechanical person but it takes a while using axle stands , but on a note of caution don't use the metal plates near the chassis rails to jack the car on as I have done as it adds to the degradation of the bushes , bushes can be bought from Subaru at about 100£ , car has done around 130k miles

can you feel any differnece
I gave up when I managed to break the captive nut loose, which ended up in having to take the seat off and cutting a hole in the floor

I can't feel a difference for me it had to happen as a bush was breaking up , there was a lot of droning which is all sorted now

Your mishap with the bolt does not sound good I think I was lucky by the sounds of it

20 year old car so to be expected, I probably should have given up when I heard the creaking of the nut breaking free, ah well you live and learn, no harm done apart from the misses complaining about me 'breaking the car again
