I'm thinking of getting a legacy gtb.

The owner said it's a bit noisy/tappety on start up but quiet when warm, is this a normal subaru thing?

Spark plugs have recentley been changed but rocker cover and sump gaskets have also been changed, is this likely to be a bodge up to hide something?

I've got the saloon version of the GTB, same engine, and I've never noticed a tappety noise that fades away. Doesn't mean it isn't true just I've never noticed.

My GTB doesn't do that. Could be a bit of piston slap which isn't overly common but some Subarus do have.
