I've just brought my first scooby finally. Its a 96 Turbo. I picked it up, drove it home and the next morning it won't start. After lots of swearing and some investigation, it turns out that the immobiliser won't turn off. Is there anyway to bypass it? Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Have you changed the battery in the key fob if there is one? Also, you may need to have to disengage the clutch as well.

Clutch start didnt come in till 2000 MY sti's, so the chances are the fob is faulty. If its a UK car then you should have a pad to bypass otherwise its off to a speciallist to get the imobiliser sorted out and probably a new alarm fitted frown

Are you close to a radio mast of any sort? Subarea UK fitted alarms back in the day that suffered really really badly from RFI. If you are, that could be the problem. In which case rip out the old alarm and fit a modern one.

Above. My Dad was parked too close to a police station a few years ago and the immobiliser wouldn't deactivate. Had to use the code on the keypad to get going.
