I'm not far off having the cash saved to get another Impreza. After having previously a hawk on an 07 plate and really enjoyed the car but sadly it just did not get the use , plus the doris got a company car so I ended up selling it and "inherited" her battle damaged 1.8 Mazda 6. I've finally managed to persuade her the Mazda is boring me off my tits, so she's agreed we can keep that as a shed and I can get myself another Subaru.

Anyway, I'm looking out for a late 04 / 05 blob WRX, mileage not really important but a well cared for example with a good history file , preferably in black, standard interior and not too badly mucked about with. I can't really travel mega miles from Ipswich though. The classifieds look pretty sparse, perhaps only a couple on Ebay and one on my local auto trader.

Finding decent unmolested blobs is becoming a bit of a task I've found, unless it is the time of year (not ideal to sell a car I guess). Budget around 5k give or take. Seems also that STI's are fetching some serious money, even rough ones. Last thing I need is another restoration job, my bloody Lancer Turbo is enough of a headache.

Is it just me or is there a "shortage" nationwide.

after 05 they move up into the higher tax bracket so the pre 05 cars are being kept by owners or snapped up on the forums

Yep, my 07 was the higher bracket (475 quid a year). tbh I didn't really mind too much at the time, but even the 2.5 hawks are fetching more money these days. Having had one, I thought now I've got the chance I'll try a 2.0 blob. A decent WRX will always sell and they don't seem to depreciate much these days, if at all.

I'm not particularly enamoured by the wagons (of which there seems to be many) although on a practical level they're probably ideal for lugging crap about with, I'm more of a saloon guy.

I've recently been looking at WRX prices to get a rough idea of what to expect for mine come sale time and I was pretty amazed to see what sort of prices are still being asked for them!
