Remap better mpg ??
Discussion
Cheers for replies , Well I am going to get it mapped just need to get the cash together , only a mild map , air filter is done , mid section is already a straight through and back box is a sport one , fuel pressure is good and I know they say the pump is a weakness but I don't believe in changing what's not broken , I have a spare pump which I will fit when it does need changing
I'd change the fuel pump as a matter of course. Both are most recent Impreza's had HRC fuel pumps fitted, better quality than the old Walbro and pretty cheap at about £70.
That's not a lot of money for peace of mind when a remap will cost you £550 (Ecutek).
Who are you planning to get remapping your car?

Hi I can understand your logic re the pump , my Foz sti was mapped but I never paid any notice to mpg before and after so nothing to compare it too , it's on origonal pump after a map ,130 k miles on the clock , and I have now bought a fuel pressure tester which I will do in and off , the two people I know of in the herts area is Richard at FB tuning or a chap called Paul previously from PTS in Luton , now Xmas is out of the way and pay day due it's time to get it sorted at last I'm sure it will be a good way to go forward
Everybody has their recommendation for mappers, I've heard of FB Tuning but not sure if the other you refer to is Paul Blamire?
I'd give Bob Rawle a shout as he's mapped my cars for years and I won't have anyone else touch them; likewise, there are some seemingly very busy mappers who I wouldn't let remap a Dyson, but it's a personal choice.

Can't help you with Hertfordshire. I know Bob travels worldwide to map so I doubt Hertfordshire would be an issue if you wanted to go down that route.
I know my dad was sceptical of replacing the PPP with a custom map, but was over the moon once he'd had the car mapped - and it's a peach to drive as a fast road car (I find that much more preferable to big power these days).

I bought it to save money on mpg , 17 mpg ish before was the reason why , so if it will help with mpg and more punch then it's a no brainer to get it done at 325£
Sounds like their are potentially other issues afoot or you are caning it everywhere (or you live in central London).drumsterphil said:

Paul B no longer maps commercially, and never worked at PTS so not sure its the same oneI'd give Bob Rawle a shout as he's mapped my cars for years and I won't have anyone else touch them; likewise, there are some seemingly very busy mappers who I wouldn't let remap a Dyson, but it's a personal choice.
You won't go wrong with Bob Rawle or Rich at FB
