Just wondering if anybody has knowledge of this wonderful work of art ? My brother-in-law has spoken to the dealer who is 175 miles from us and he's now a bit 'fidgety' . He was thinking of having a new or very recent WRX Sti as a second car and then saw this. It's very strong money @circa 20k plus but it's something that would be cherished, only used in the summer months and cover circa 2-3k miles a year.
Thoughts on this particular car, it's value and future desirability welcome before we head to Buckinghamshire.

Buy an RB320 instead...

Sorry, I've owned a few limited edition Subarus's and I've never been keen on the WR1. Odd colour, dccd equipped but not wide track as per the 05 STi which followed (which is also preferable to the WR1 IMO). £20k is way too much even taking mileage into consideration - I'd never buy a Subaru as an investment (as you talk about future values).

Agree with Phil, its an over rated car for what you get, none ever produced the quoted power output or got near the quoted performance figures, for the money you can get something really special (A Spec C RA or an out of the factory 320ps car like the S202).
Look at Hurst motors in Bedfordshire, you will get something decent to cherish but a WR1 wouldnt be my choice, and it wont hold its value (anything wide track is what you are after).

RB320 instead.

WR1, nice, but as said, weird colour and probably not as well a known limited edition.

But, please don't just buy a 320 because it is black. Understand what it is.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have one, but I'd prefer a 320.

Or look for a limited edition special, like the Type-25. They are based on a variety of JDM models, so you pays your money and takes your choice....

Technically a T25 is not a limited edition, it's just Litchfield's take on what a great road going Subaru should be (and they are good). An RB320 is an official Subaru limited edition IYSWM.

If it was my £20k then I'd be hunting down a decent RB320 (black/grey alcantara interior, lip spoiler and correct decals) or go to Hurst and buy the blue Spec C RA that he has up for £15k (though that might be a bit extreme for a non-enthusiast).

I also see the Adams WR1 is up on autotrader for £25k!! It doesn't even have the lip spoiler they came standard with - you'd be certifiable to buy it at that price!

Another vote for the RB320 here. A much better special edition. No way that WR1 is worth £25k

So.....Many thanks indeed for all your replies, it's certainly food for thought. Will browse the RB320 cars available and maybe take a look at a potential or two. I was aware this particular WR1 is a small fortune, the aim was to find something bit special with a view to keeping it in show condition for an indefinite time. I had a P1 once upon a time, should have kept it.

They have been doing this for a while; old low mileage Imprezas (albeit perfect) for astro prices.

They had a standard 04 STI for £15k when I went in there which is just a joke.

Get a higher mileage wide track STI for much less and you'll be equally as happy or import a JDM one from Torque GT.
