Finding a decent mapper isn't geographic IMO, go for the best there is (subjective that this is) and be prepared to travel (the drive home should be worth it).

I've had cars mapped previously by a number of well known mappers but I only now use Bob Rawle (based in Swindon under BRD Developments).

As I said, everyone has an opinion on good or bad mappers but I've used Bob for the last 6 years or so and am always extremely happy with the results and his ever professional approach to mapping.

Keep the recommendations coming please people. I'll need one of these myself at some point. I would have used Jolly Green Monster at Surrey Rolling Road, but he sadly passed away earlier this year. frown

Is there anyone reasonably local to South Bucks that can install simple upgrades as well as remap as a drive in drive out service? Nothing major but I think 270bhp or so would be a nice figure for me.

Why not?

My favourite is Martyn at Engine Tuner (Alan Jeffreys its also known as) in Plymouth. Engine Tuner is always available and they also have their own dyno.

My experience is go to the best, most available mapper even if it means traveling for a day.

I wrote a bit about it here in the other thread; http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The my1999 & my2000 have different software from the rest which he doesn't have.

Happy to drive but not to Plymouth, thats around 4 hours. I might give Zen a call, 1.5hrs is more acceptable unless anyone has any bad experiences or other suggestions.

I'm surprised since the 1999/2000 models are very widely mapped.

It takes me 4 hours to drive to Plymouth too! Still if you go you'll see why they are so popular but what amazes me the most is the time Alan and Martyn take to make sure each car is done properly. Martyn was also involved in development of the Alcatek ECU I believe.

I can't comment on Zen as they don't get many mentions on the forums from what I've seen and I've never used them.

ScoobyClinic have Pat otherwise known as Mr Syvecs who works there and I'd guess they are 2-3 hours from you depending on where you live in that area.

I don't want a new ecu I just want a meagre 270 hp or so and want to keep the car as standard as possible just with a tiny bit more poke.

South Bucks is a fair trek from most mappers.
