FB20B Engine oil consumption

Hi Folks, I'm looking to swap our 2010 Outback for a new Forester Petrol for the Wife. She only does about 10k miles a year. I'm a bit concerned about the oil consumption issues I've read about on the FB20B engine in the Forester/XV . I'm hoping somebody here is in the know or works within the dealer network and can advise me on whats what. I understand it was an oil control ring issue, has it been modified ? Thanks in advance.
