Prodrive Backbox WRX Wagon
Discussion
Hi!
I'm looking for a Prodrive BackBox for my 54 Plate Blobeye WRX Wagon.
I've read some conflicting information on the net, some say that the Wagon and the Saloon were the same fitment whereas other say that the Prodrive back box for the wagon has a longer tail to accommodate the different bumper. Can anyone confirm this?
Were there any other differences, e.g. between a Prodrive box fitted to a WRX and a Prodrive box fitted to a STI?
Quite a few for sale on eBay but none seem to have come off a wagon so I was hoping to be able to confirm before buying!
Appreciate the help!

Yes, the backbox on the wagons is different to the saloon, at least on the blobeye. It is due to the difference in bumper. A saloon backbox on the wagon runs the risk of the bumper being melted as the exit pipe is shorter. Plenty of Impreza specialists offer stainless steel backboxes for wagons, and this is what I got for mine.
I got mine from Roger Clark Motorsport. They aren't necessarily the cheapest around, but the quality of the parts are very good and they do have specific back boxes for the wagons. It's a 2.5" system as standard, and you don't need to go bigger until you go for big power.
It made a big difference in the sound from the exhaust. Yes, it is louder, but it sounds really good and, when cruising on the motorway, doesn't drone.
Their back box has a tail pipe with a rolled edge, so it doesn't look too aftermarket! Not all their parts are on the website at the moment as they have been updating it, so give them a ring if you are interested.
I'd have thought Scoobyclinic and others would be able to help too, if they are closer to you.

The Fitting for the Prodrive Backbox for a MY04 or MY05 WRX (Saloon or Wagon) & STI are the same.
