Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a 2008 2.0D R Outback as a winter runaround. It seems to be quite well specc'd...sat nav, leather, 17" alloys etc - but I think R is the base model (?). I've done loads of google searching but can't find out what the difference is between the R, RE and REn specs - please could someone advise?

Thanks

Thanks - just had a look at that. It shows sat nav, leather, elec sunrood not even being options on the R, so it seems slightly odd that the one I'm looking at has all of these. Company car from new, so I'm guessing that's as it came from the factory!

The spec would be the least of my worries with a Gen 4 diesel Outback. There are lots of horror stories of chocolate cranks and clutches. The petrol engines are bullet proof but a bit thirsty.

Yeah, I did read some scare stories! It's got FSH and just had cam chain tensioners and new turbo. At 100k miles I was gambling that any crank issues would've surfaced by now.
