Back in an Impreza. Some questions...
Discussion
Hi all,
I briefly owned a JDM 1994 WRX way back in 2007 and over the weekend I picked up another one.
It's a 2000 MY UK 2000 Turbo. Not exactly the most exciting model, but it does what I need at the moment.
I'd like to know where I can get decent quality parts for the car. There are a range of websites and obviously eBay, but so far my attempts to find a knock sensor and a key fob have been somewhat hopeless.
The knock sensor is frustrating, there are plenty about - but when you read the detail none of them are for this model. Most UK cars seem to end at 1998.
Similarly, there are plenty of places to buy a replacement key fob, just not this one...
Next question - is there any way to tell the different bits apart. This car has wheels from a later model and the brake callipers look considerably larger than I seem to recall, so I'm wondering if they're upgrades as well.
Final question - is there any way to pull a relay or something to render the car immobile? I had problems with another car and it was laughable how easy it was to bypass the immobiliser once you knew what you were doing. As such I often like to pull a random fuse as well. Just in case!
Pictures to follow.. Thanks!

I got new key fobs for my old MY00 UK Turbo (sadly now off the road) supplied and programmed by a Subaru dealer. Paid just under £200 which was daft considering three months later it failed it's MOT for the dreaded rear suspension turret rot. That said, the fobs supplied were very similar (a bit smaller) than the originals despite the fact I couldn't seem to find anything suitable online.
MY99 and MY00 UK classics got the front 4 pots from the JDM STis. These are pretty good in my experience and you can't get any bigger calipers to fit under 16s.

Thanks for the link.. That's more reasonable, albeit I still only need the case, I'd be happy to transfer the innards!
Any suggestions for the knock sensor..? Is there any way to check which part numbers should be fitted to my car? There was an online catalogue for the MR2 which was fantastic for this kind of thing.
Thanks again for the advice!

I have what seems to be the pin code but nothing else.
Is it possible to start the car using the pub code via the keypad? Be handy if the batteries run out!
Al, there are a lot of guides out there on this. Is it possible to start the car using the pub code via the keypad? Be handy if the batteries run out!
ScoobyNet has covered it extensively and there was a chap who was/is a guru called Sigma Sam who used to post. If you search for it on Scoobynet you'll find a lot of info on the subject.

I hope this is of use
