My brother just bought another scooby looks bloody lovely in white
But there is a problem with the brakes .The pedal is so hard to press it moves about 1 inch and doesn't seem to stop the car very quickly
The old owner replaced discs and pads and uprated the front calipers to 4 pots from a sti or wrx or something like that
Anyone able to suggest wot the problem is or wot to check
Also it ticks over very low 500/600rpm how do I turn the revs up
Or anyone local to Bristol able to come round and take a look pls

Well the brakes have been bleed the pedal is slightly better
Im thinking it must be a caliper not realising grrrrr
And to think this car passed a mot on the 6th of this month
So brakes not releasing
Inner cv boot split in half
Signs of a crash as air con rad bent and buckled
So fecking dodgy garage in Cardiff giving out mot tests when the car has clearly failed
But as it was sold as seen my brother can stand to loose it all if he takes it any further. So don't no were we stand now . Apart from spending money and getting it road worthy

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the revs
I found a split hose and replaced that it's now ticking over at 600rpm but the engine is very lumpy. Ideally I would like to get the revs up to 800rpm
Also is there a idle control valve and any pic's please of were it is hiding on the engine
Sorry for all the questions but I no my way round a rb25 skyline engine .but the boxer engine is all new to me

Found the problem with the revs .turns out the engine has a miss fire so hard to tell by the sound I thought it wae running ok just lacking power .that's why then
So for a stock engine and only air filter changed to a cone filter
Wot spark plugs should be in there and wot gap should they be set to .
im going to try and change the plugs this weekend for him .but never worked on a scooby so it may take a while

Also, I hope you have small hands as getting to the plugs and pulling off the leads can be a pain in the as*. Try taking off the air filter to do the driver's side to make more room and try to do the nearside from underneath as I found it much easier. If you're lucky the plug leads will have been taken off recently and may therefore come off easier. For parts I use Import Car Parts on the internet, from them you get the right part.
Ive cleaned the idle control valve and maf .maf seams to be working fine as it stalls the car once disconnected
Its a 99 or 2001 not sure ill ask my brother
We use to have awesome Imports just down the road from us and could get any scooby parts but he isn't trading anymore so not sure were to get parts now

I'd recommend Scoobynet as a starting point for parts as lots of Scooby specialists advertise on there and users sell parts on there too!
My car has lots of parts recently from RogerClark and whilst they are great, they are also pretty pricey!
Cleaning the MAF on a phase 2 engine just kills the MAF because they are more sensitive (note fragile but better than they use to be, if it has a green mark on it its the upgraded one), also the cone filter will probably not help, too much crap going in and too much vibration, also helps kill the MAF's (note the MAF reoccuring here, its a known issue on the MY99/00 cars).
I would suggest binning the cone filter, going back to the standard airbox, fitting a BRAND NEW MAF sensor (they are not that expensive) and try not to put your fingers on the sensor part.
