6500-7000 budget, What's the best Impreza to buy?
Discussion
I've been looking at Impreza's and Evo's and have decided an Impreza seems the better purchase for the cash, there certainly seems more tidy cars for the same money anyway. So the next question is, which is the best to go for? I've looked at everything from 2 door V3's to blob eye STI's.
Any suggestions are helpful to be honest, I'm pretty open to the car itself, the intention is to pretty much buy on condition.

Get the best condition 04 to 05 STI you can. I picked mine up (54 STI) for £6000 from a dealer and it's been utterly magnificent thanks to a lovely stage one pack and very good servicing and history. Don't get too hung up on going for a widetrack car as which they're brilliant, they aren't worth another 30-40% extra over your budget. Mileage means very little too do don't be put off by looking at cars with 100k on them as the 2.0 is very strong as are all the other components. Just make sure you buy from someone you're happy with and that the car has a very big folder of receipts to back up the work that's been done.
Blob eye STI does seem like the way to go, seems a kind of best of all world's with one, looks good, goes as well as an Impreza should, though I may do a PPP style upgrade on it at some point anyway, and you get the DCCD like the earlier JDM cars but without the potential rot issues.

Any opinions on this? Seems a good car for the money.
Edit. Just done a check, no history of any accidents etc, mileage checks out to the advertised number. If it's still for sale I might arrange a viewing for the weekend.

Looks like a parallel import to me meaning no DCCD despite it being a wide track. I rejected one because it'd be a swine to sell on but if it's what you want then go for it. My 54 plate is an import too but not a wide track so it's essentially the same as a UK case just with a different alarm.
Go drive it and see what the service history is like. It being 100k should mean nothing at all and with the stage one map it should pull like a train too.
Enjoy and report back

Found another one fairly local last night, going to view that Saturday afternoon 04 plate, 95k 2 owner car, recently had cambers, power steering pump and clutch done, full history. Looks really tidy so will see how good it is up close. If it's as good as it seems then I'll be making a purchase

You selling the s2000? I had an rb5 for a few years, brill cars. Don't think you can beat a scooby for smiles per pound. My pal has an old blob eye and it's very quick over the welsh back roads. Kept up easily with my m3 despite all my suspension mods.
It got a bit broken my own fault, stopped at a crossroads as I heard sirens (lights had gone green) checked there was nothing with flashing blue lights coming, nothing to be seen so turned and a Corsa appeared... One broken s2000. The only positive is that the insurance actually paid out £100 more than I paid for the car. Will miss it though. Have looked for a wide track dccd model but they all seem to be an extra 1-2 grand. Going to view an 04 STI this afternoon, insurance is sorted for if I bring it home, and I have ordered an STI style lip spoiler and Scoobyworld race box this week ready for whichever car I do buy

Good lad. A good exhaust is a must. You can always sell the race box and get an Afterburner in due course
I've done daft loud stuff in the past, a buddy club spec 4 on my Civic Type R gave me what seemed like partial hearing loss lol. Trying to go a bit more subtle this time, but that may change Looks nice.
