What scoobie for £6k
Discussion
Looking at moving on from my Astra VXR to maybe a turbo scoobie. LOVE the hawkeye model but i think with my budget i may struggle to find a decent one.
So my question is, if you was me with 6k what scoobie would you get, and what common faults do i need to look out for!
Cheers guys

As a previous WRX Blobeye owner and current hatch owner. I too love the hawkeye I always imagined moving from my blob to a hawk. But circumstances didn't allow and when they did I went for the newer hatch at the same price.
I heard a few horror stories on the 2.5 that powers the hawks, head gasket mainly I think. But I had my 2.0wrx for 2/3 years and 40k miles ( on 60 when I sold) and it never ever missed a beat. I was 21 when I got it and it had some hammerings in that time , almost everyday infact. But treated it with excellent servicing and warm up / cools down it was perfect.
I find the sound of the car infectious , the handling and balance spot on for a car of its kind and the 5 sec 0 - 60 time in rain or shine addictive.

That one is the right colour and because of the year is in the lower tax band, very tunable too..
My old girl for the record

If you can put up with the questionable looks, £6k should get you a very nice bugeye sti PPP.
A higher milage or rougher condition blobeye sti might be available for the price.
As for the WRX models (myself having a blob PPP), I wouldn't spend £6k on one personally, but it would net you a very nice hawk or late model blob.
If you can afford the extra on insurance etc. I'd go for a sti, you have to modify the WRX to silly levels to get the performance capabilities of what a standard sti PPP offers.

I know where there is an absolutely fantastic well sorted Hawkeye for £6500-£7000 if you can stretch to that, you would not be disappointed with this beast.
Eta, it appears I don't, he's seen sense and removed it from sale, sorry.
They are available tho

Impreza heavy thread so far
Just to be a little different (and because I'm HUGELY biased) can I suggest an older Legacy B4. Some styling similarities to the Hawkeye. Big benefit is you'll have cash left over for fuel and insurance. GTB's are great too if you have a big dog.
Like this but manual

I never tire of people asking, What is that?
