Yes - thicker is stiffer and so resists roll more. Basically the thicker you go on the rear end the more oversteer you will get.
You haven't said what else you might have done- but if nothing else then I'd go for a 22mm if I was you and solid drop links too.
After that it's a slippery slope - if original bushes then they'll be shot - new bushes/ lower ball joints make a big difference.
I have a classic (p1) with 24mm eibachs arbs front and back, which would normally be too much for a classic and would promote understeer through being too stiff but it also has exetc dampers, new bushes, drop links, etc, and is running circa 500BHP through a Dccd so it is still entertaining
