Last week I had an early morning choice

Either a boring 2/12 hour drone up the motorway or add an hour and take some interesting roads in

I chose the latter and boy did I enjoy it

Empty roads , sweeping bends, it was fantastic

The Impreza is made for deserted mornings

Anybody else do it , any roads to recommend in the north west

The North WEST ? Which bit ? I like the A41 from Wolverhampton to Whitchurch, Turn Off halfway and head towards Wrexham, then that's it for decent roads until you get North of Preston. Longridge to Long Preston perhaps.

I bought my car near Huddersfield, on taking it home (just south of Cambridge) I left the usual A1-A14-M11 boring route to go via the Baldock - Buntingford road, which was fantastic, even though I was cream crackered after a long drive. Well worth it. Motorways are dull and give me too much time to think about the fuel consumption.....
