Embargo lifted today on reviews so they're slowly making their way onto the web.

Post them here as you come across them. Video to start.

Ahh, ignorant Americans...

"Subaru has been active in rally since 2006..." isn't a great start to a review. Car looks good in action though.

Subaru have been active in the American rally championship since 2006, winning the championship for the last 4 years with David Higgins driving.

Lets hope:

1) They shift in some volume
2) The engine woes are fixed
3) It's not in the top VED band

Still at 305bhp does not show a great deal or progress IMO...

Yes, I know. But they have been active rallying elsewhere since the early 80s. All too common for Americans to be unaware of anything outside their borders.

It'll be a good car no doubt. However, I just can't help but think they have spent no R&D in the engine department. If they had, surely we would be seeing revised figures?

I can't help wondering if the engine is just a stopgap until they release a firebreathing version of the new 2.0, going by what people are doing with BRZs it certainly has the potential.

Whilst all the while further eroding confidence. That would be the most stupid business strategy I could think of.

1 to a degree has a dependency on 2, and if it comes in around 30K GBP, then the top rate of VED won't help 1 either! They need to get the commercial and confidence recipe right, and its not looking like they are about to do that. Unless they are just accepting small sales to support a halo brand and maintain a bunch of diehard fans confused

Its like its stuck in time. Come on Subaru - fix the engine, drive the emissions down a bit, and up the power.

Another problem they'll face is the stty finance. 48 months with 5k down and £400pm is a piss take. Ballon of £9500 for a four year old STI with 50k on it? Find any MY11 anything like that as a % and you'll see it's way too small.

I get the impression their target market is the US. They are dominating Rally America which has really taken off over the last few years.

The limited number in the UK is a bit of an experiment I think with the Yen weakened.

it's the no.1 market so I don't blame them. They're not going to change things for us just to sell 250 cars.

It's a pity they've gone from the sharp aggressive look of the concept to something that looks quite...well..dull IMO, looks much more bulky and plain in the metal than I'd anticipated.

The concept looked cool but I never expected it to make production looking like that - just looking at the roofline and rear quarters you could tell it would never have had suitable rear seat space/headroom to be sold as a sedan. They still have time to make a coupe version mind you, we can hope!

I've just seen this and have added it to my "maybe" list, which currently includes a new M3 an M2 depending when they are launched and a Merc A45 AMG. This seems pretty reasonably priced but are they likely to be reliable? I've never owned a Subaru but I have often fancied one. Though I hope that non gold wheels are an option.

Shame the 2015 euro is having the 2014 2.5l ej25 engine like the states.

The rest are having the 2015 2.0l DIT engine

IMHO

Although spec is not yet confirmed for the Euro Subaru
