Pro-R 340R upgrade (2010 STI)
Discussion
My STI hatch went in for it's first service (under my ownership anyway) and while it was in I took out a 2011 Cosworth for a test. Such a big power increase over my STI and loved the external DV. Anyway, so the Cosworth is a little out of reach for me right now, but I'm considering the 340r upgrade pack which the dealer can fit.
Anybody can advise if this is a upgrade that makes a noticeable difference? Lower range torque? MPG change? etc Any rough ideas on how it would affect insurance?
Thanks.

Well worth it! I went from the 320R to 340R and that was much improved. In standard form I found it a bit dull to drive and no real exhaust note.
The 340R pack is a remap and stainless steel exhaust system, this sounds really good without been annoying on long motorway runs.
The car feels much more alive, Turbo kicks in slightly lower down the rev range, just over 3K, plus an increase in torque, feels much more responsive now.
I don't really see the mpg changing, I have a 2011 STi and this had better mpg than the 2008 STi I had.
With insurance, LV don't recognise the 340R has a model. So I add exhaust and ecu changes, so this bumps the insurance up.

Thanks, I think it's something I'm going to go for. The 340R pack is a remap and stainless steel exhaust system, this sounds really good without been annoying on long motorway runs.

I checked with my insurer and after a long conversation trying to explain what it was, they quoted an extra £64 a year for it.

L&V insured me from 2002 Though, STi2002 upgrade to PPP, Then a JDM Sti Type R then 5 years with my 350bhp awesome 2006 Type 20.With insurance, LV don't recognise the 340R has a model. So I add exhaust and ecu changes, so this bumps the insurance up.
But ordered a brand new 2011 saloon 320R (which was the only model being sold at the time)they said they would only ever insure a STD 2011 saloon and never a 320R even the 3 or 4 people I spoke to at L&V couldn't believe it.
SO now it's a 340R and insured @ Moley at Keith Michaels and much much cheaper
