Hi All. I've got a 54 plate (newer shape) Outback 2.5SE. I've had it from new and it's done 167,000 miles and still on the original exhaust! It has been patched up over the last few years but this will only go on for so long. I very much doubt that it will come apart very easy so I may be looking at a whole replacement front to back. It's a keeper so I don't mind spending. Where to go though? I've done a web search but can't find much. Any pointers on where to look ?

Thanks.

Be prepared to get a kicking! I couldn't find any options other than Subaru, (c£700 for the rear Y section alone!) or getting one in stainless made. Longlife exhausts were the cheapest, think it was still c£600

Yes, I am anticipating a shafting on this one. Hadn't thought of a stainless one, def wouldn't want to change the noise though (like it quiet).

According to Longlife exhausts you can specify exactly how you want it to sound - if you want it to sound completely standard they will oblige. I've not used them myself but I will look at that option if my Forester exhaust decides to croak.

Has anyone here used one of these Longlife exhausts?

Don't Subaru sell a cheaper alternative to their OE spec exhausts? However, if it was my money I'd get one made by the likes of Longlife.

Put a longlife on my 3.0RN - I asked for the noise to stay as close to oem as poss - it was nearly there though slightly more drony on the motorway - easily remedied by another notch on the radio though.

No complaints - good service, decent product and all for £399 inc vat and fitting. I used the Carshalton, Surrey people. No way would I pay for oem on an older car I'm afraid. Bonkers money.

What part of the system was that for?

Y section and both back boxes. The Y is always the bit that goes.

Try www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk they do a lot of legacy systems as the factory stuff is so expensive. Lots of good reviews on here for them. They custom make it all in T304 stainless and it comes with lifetime warranty. I know they do all of David Hendry cars systems so must be good.
