Subaru Forester stage 2 - where/how, DIY or specialist?
Discussion
Have a lovely 2006 Forester 2.5XT, and am considering upgrading it with a stage 2 modification - as it is, it's a great stealth car, but stage 2 should improve that a little too
Based in the UK - Shropshire/Birmingham - and want views on where is good to go to get it done - seen Litchfield advertised, who look good, but cost is £1500. Is that good, bad, or average, and is there a DIY version, or, given i have no spare time, a way of ordering appropriate parts online and going to local garage to have them fit them.
Any experiences with any of those routes, indicative costs at other tuners, or other views are welcomed.

The link is for a list of recommended garages on subaruforester.org. Theres plenty of other information on there including parts interchangeable with imprezas.

What are you looking to achieve? I wouldn't advise you mapping your car yourself at all. It's a sure fire way to kill your Fos. Get it to a specialist and have it done properly. I'd consider strengthening your engine first or improve the handling with some ARBs.
Maybe I wasn't clear - I wasn't going to design the remap curves myself, just order them online and get them flashed..... ditto downpipes, etc.xcentric said:

wouldnt do that... get a mapper to come to you and spend 3 hours mapping your car correctly to match your engine.. Rob Rawle, Andy Carr, Jolly Green Monster to name but a few.

H, What does stage 2 consist of? What are you getting for 1500? The route followed by most tuners is - panel filter, decat down pipe, fuel pump (optional) and a remap. After that would come full exhaust systems, bigger turbos, injectors, larger intercoolers etc. Based in the UK - Shropshire/Birmingham - and want views on where is good to go to get it done - seen Litchfield advertised, who look good, but cost is 1500. Think off the peg suit, or made to measure so it fit perfectly, for the same price.
