Clutch, Grrr...

Biting point quite high. Being an idiot I was pootling along in second, put it into 5th and slipped it around 4k, it slipped alot and smelt funny (not in a good way).
I already had my suspicions, going from 1st to second under load it seemed to slip a wee tiny tiny tiny bit.
However, I've had the car less than a month, brought from a main Subaru dealer, so really should ask them if it's a fair deal to replace it FOC?.
I don't mind meeting them halfway, as I'll source a new flywheel and replace that at the same time, which, while I'm here, is a lightened one worth it's while? (any suggestions gratefully received).
I'll keep you posted and let you know how I get on....

Hello
I very much doubt they will replace it FOC as it is classed as wear and tear.
The clutch will be £300 ish, flywheel £250 ish and then plus fitting. When I asked the main dealer for a price for clutch, flywheel and fitting it came to £1,000!!! (this was on my Forester where the parts are way cheaper)
As you are in Suffolk your other option is to speak to Tim Farmer. He is a mobile Subaru mechanic 07880 661866 and replaced my clutch on my drive in less time (and greatly reduced cost) than the main dealer quoted.

JM I didn't mate, it actually never occured to me to do that, as I'd come from driving an auto BMW, tbh it's been behaving itself recently. I didn't bother calling the dealers on account they will only say what's already been said re wear and tear (although arguably nothing ventured, nothing gained).
However, if I'm going to get a remap in the future I expect it will need changing, adding 40 more HP on an already dodgy clutch might not be the best idea.....
