Litchfield Impreza JDM WRX STI Spec C TYPE 20
Discussion
Do it, you won't be disappointed. They come at a bit of a premium but then all good things do these days. they will be rare, there aren't that many around and should hold on to their residuals fairly well even after a couple of years of ownership.
My favourite Litchfield car is the Type25 based on the 2006/07 SpecC. Lovely car and very useable every day

I have owned a type 20 Sti and it is a awesome car setup
It consists of
AST suspension
Anti lift kit
Updated Front ARB
Uprated Rear adj ARB
4wheel alignment
Sti panel filter
Full Miltek exhaust system and sports CAT
ECUTEK remap 350 BHP 360lbs on 06 Sti
ECUTEK remap 360 BHP 380lbs on 06 Spec C
Dccd speed correction
The spec C also has over Sti
Oil cooler
Light weight glass
No sound dreading
Large intercooler spray at rear
Lighter front subframe
Black seats not blue velour and black (except vltd)
Lightweight battery
Roof vent
This is very general as models do vary
A MY06 Hawkeye spec C would fetch £16K + £2k if a type 20
In comparison a UK Sti made to look like and have the bits bolted on maybe only worth £6-10K
Word of caution go by the model code to. Check its a spec C check documentation to check its a LITCHFIELD car.
Service history and receipts WILL mean everything towards its value and will be your best friend. Just Hearsay and stickers take £7K off
Spec C's are rare as rocky horse ste and nearly always owned by anAL enthusiasts. No history no buy bye bye
IMHO IIRC
Best of luck they are definaty worth the premium

You are going to get to know the names of all the attendants at your local shell station.
Ha ha PMSL I had miy type20 near 6 years and daily drive but that was 6-7K miles a year
MY06 2.0ltr twin scroll
8mpg on track
12mpg spirited drive
16 mpg around town
22 mpg average mixed A&B roads
25mpg 60mph motorway run
25 mpg 80 mph motorway run
Average over 30,000 20 mpg
MY11 2.5ltr 340R
8mpg on track
15 mpg spirited drive
18 mpg around town
23 mpg average mixed A&B roads
32 mpg 60mph motorway run
21 mpg 80 mph motorway run
Average over 14,000 miles 21.2mpg
So yes certainly I notice the girls in the Shell garage have a new hair do

I had an 07 Type20 and it was aaaawesome.
The only downsides were the road tax and it ran on v-fuel at 22-25mpg
I took it to Silverstone once. Worked out it was getting about 5mpg, but it was running rings around everything else out on the track.
Amazing technology in the Spec-C for the money and the Type20 mods just top it off.
Very comfortable bimbling about the town or on the motorway and when you turn on the taps it just lifts it skirt and f*ks off like StarWars Hyperspeed
I would have another if fuel wasn't so expensive now (switched back to motorbikes instead)

I presume you've been tempted by the Hurst cars white T20?
Before I opted to 'play safe' with an RB320 Hursts had a red T25 hawk eye on 16k miles and a white T20 on 35k miles. The T20 was the one I wanted so, knowing provenance is everything with these cars, emailed Ian Litchfield for info on the car, service history etc. I emailed him again, and then again. No response. I toldmhim my plan was to have him check the car iver before I bought it, so I couldn't believe it when I was ignored! If i was the person responsible for putting a car together and someone asked for info I'd have been delighted. It really put me off.
Research with other subaru owners led me to believe the T20 would have been too compromised for everyday use for me - an occasional track toy was what I was after. Too high on the miles front and a pretty limited resale market sealed the deal against. Not su what you're planning on using the car for, but if you buy it, good on you!

I was at Litchfields yesterday from 8:00 till 7:30pm having work done. And the phone didn't stop ringing 20% of calls were about is this type20 or that type 25 real. Most from buyers some from dealers. He commissioned 100's over the last 1ten years. Most information would actually convene Data protection act. Iain explained that he'd need to employ a person 35hrs a week to deal with these enquires by phone and email.
I can understand provenance is everything and your wanting that detail. When I sold my type 20 I had a folder with import information. Litchfield receipts printouts from Powerstation for power and alignment. Service history. Every brake pad wiper blade receipt. The buyer didn't need to contact litcho I had the provenance.
As with most enthusiast we are anal about service history and provenance. If the isn't any provenance WHY NOT??
Because a genuine Ming vase fetches £1000000000 and a TESCO blue stripe copy fetches £1.00 likewise buy a crock of @@@@ off fleabay for £5K add a few stickers and now a type 20 for £10k.
Biggest request he has is not for information but Type20 or Type25 badges which he refuses
Tony
Ps
Yes I know him as a friend and as a tuner. No I don't get discount. Nor get paid
90% of his business is tuning GTR's to 1000bhp, R8, R10 hi end sport cars etc. etc.

The Type 20 and Type 25 were built out of a choice either A-line (Japan Spec D eqv) STi or Spec C buyers choices. To be fair my T20 JDM hawk from new my everyday drive and did 6-7 trackdays every year. I had the car nearly 6 years and brilliant on both.
The Spec C is lighter than the Sti but more track focused and less sound proofing etc etc
