Watch how the model year relates to the registration year.
There were alot of them sitting around brand new & unregistered for over a year, hence they were very very good bargains when new & that should be reflected in the 2nd hand price.
The 10th digit of the VIN is the model year.
A car registered in 2010 may well be a 2008 model year (which means pre September 2008 date of manufacture).
Edit to actually answer your question
We have had one from new (59 reg, 08 MY - so actually an older car than my 58 reg outback).
It's now done about 40,000 miles.
No major problems - watch for corrosion on the wheels, many were replaced under warranty (ours were).
My good lady drives very very gently & gets about 28-29 mpg (according to the trip computer).
