Legacy Outback engine

Talk to API Engines near Southam. Simon is your man. He might have something in or be able to rebuild yours.
If your bores aren't too far gone and the crank is still good it would be very cost effective just to have your engine rebuilt with just what needs renewing.
It might just require a new set of shells/bearings, pins, quick bore hone, new piston rings if the pistons are OK, polish your crank if it's ok, heads skimmed, and you're good to go. Get another 180k out of it for not a lot of dosh.
You're at least using your old engine and is a known quantity for what has been done to it rather than a recon engine that you have no idea other than the word of whoever you buy it from as to what has been renewed.
