Hi.I have a Blobeye STI and have not used the car for a while, started fine then when warm noticed the revs where hunting between 1500 and 2000 on idle, went on for a couple of miles then the engine light came on. Car drives smooth at speed but hunts when stationary. Any ideas please?

If your check engine light has come on you need to see what it corresponds to before trying to guess what the problem is. Could be faulty MAF sensor, Lambda sensor, Dirty IACV etc....

Get someone to plug in an OBDII reader or proper Subaru specific diagnostic cable and software and see what error code it comes up with.

Until then you know nothing smile

If you take a jaunt up the M3 there is always Greenwood Racing, they are very good.

Having had another think about it i reckon you might have a vacuum leak somewhere. The fact the CEL has lit and thrown up a MAF error after a new MAF tells me it's probably that that's also causing the high idle.

Total long shot mate. Disconnect the Battery, reconnect. You'll still need to get the Light switched out, but just try that first, nowt to loose.
My car sits for long periods, it done something similar. I done the above, problem never came back, but obviously light stayed on.
As i say, total long shot, but won't do you any harm. Failing that, as the guys say, could be a potential, any of whats been mentioned.

Thanks very much for all your suggestions still no joy yet but living in hope. There seems no running difference between the two maf units and car runs exactly the same when unpluged

If you can get your air intake system pressure tested you can see if there are any boost or vacuum leaks along your boost pipework and manifold.

To see the leaks spray a solution of diluted washing up liquid over all the joints and pipes/manifold and look for the bubbles smile
