I have been researching prices of V70 D5's for a few months, with a view to buy....

Sadly, or happily (but don't tell the Mrs how much my Road Tax and fuel economy is) I've won a 54 plate Legacy Sportswagon 3.0r Tiptronic thingy with only 52k on the clock and a FSSH. Bought on Christmas day..

Oh, I'll collect it tomorrow, so I'll update my thoughts/paranoia/thoughts of impending doom.

Any interjection, thought provoking dialogue or piss taking welcome!

Nice cars.

Bit "90's jap" inside but an overall very high quality product and nice drive too. I think really excellent value for money.

details/photos/link to the ad?

Ebay item no. 230899391993.
I was thinking that it was a bit of a Christmas bargain, compared to something like a V70 T5 or 330 touring with a similar mileage. Not so sure now. Of course I have the nerves before I collect it!

Looks very nice, and you can't argue at that price!

By sounds of the description it seems like the first owner kept it the longest and done most of the servicing.

I would expect it to be due some maintenance work in the near future. However if the most recent owner has had it 2/3 years and done nothing to it, I don't think it should be described as FSH.

Remember you haven't parted with your money until you have seen it, if its totally not as described then have chat or leave it. You wont be any worse off.

Other than that don't be nervous, enjoy it.

Can't comment on this particular car for the obvious, but I loved mine when I had it (was similar but an Outback) and was so easy and comfortable to drive and superb in the snow!

I actually stopped and towed a Mondeo up a hill he couldn't climb in snowy conditions and the look of surprise on his face when I first offered and after I'd got him up was priceless; he thought I was taking the piss initially I think.

A hell of a lot of car for the money. Enjoy and hope all goes well smile

Picked it up, without a hitch today. Drove 60 miles home in what can only be described as 'Grace and Pace'.
It is spotless, serviced 2 months ago by a main agent. No knocks or rattles, faultless performance, smooth auto, stunning interior (so much better than Subaru's of old) and the traction in the wet is ridiculous!

Only thing I've noticed after a good looking over (car tech for 17 years in a previous life) is a very slight injector noise on the right bank of cylinders. That really is it....

Cleaning up the 69k Accord for sale next job on the agenda (Mint 2003 2.0 se manual in storm (?) grey) Not that I'm advertising it or anything biggrin

Cool! The 3.0 H6's are cam chain as well, so one less thing to worry about. Should last a lifetime.

Mrs D has the 3.0 Outback, it's brilliant. So smooth, quick, sure footed, spacious and refined, no clutch or cambelt make up for the 19.5 mpg!

I've noticed the MPG already! At least my old (in my single days) M5 was worse. Well pleased with the purchase so far chaps, thanks for the words of encouragement.
