SVX Misfire - London/Surrey independent?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
My SVX flat 6 has now got a horrible misfire above idle. It feels like when one of the coil packs are kaput.
Basically it idles fine and is smooth when tickling the throttle (so the coil packs must be ok right?) but as soon as the revs rise it misfires and then I get pops and bangs from the exhaust.
I know I need to get it on a diagnostic machine, but I really need the services of a good idependent on the Surry/London boarder.
Any helps tips really appreciated.

Thanks for the tip and compliment. Well I'll take it as that as recognise its not everyones cup of tea.
I was really hoping for someone who know Subaru's inside out. I'll call these guys and see what they say.
Cheers
Just looked the website. They seem to know Japanese motors! WOW!
Looking forward to calling them and hopefully they'll be interested.

How weird is this?
I started the car this evening. It fired right up! Smooth idle and revved up smoothly up to 3k like nothing was up.
I have just noted the oil light is dimly glowing.
Flipping bloody thing :/
I am going to try and get a fault code.
Not sure where to start. I need to determine if the low oil pressure indication is telling the truth.

Dan at Subaru Specialists is fully booked until begining of Feb!! He's too popular!
I can't wait that long.
With the awful weather I was unable to get over to you this weekend just gone Simon. I am looking to come over this Saturday collect the coil packs and see what the score is.
I really appreciate all of the help and time on the 5 minutes on the phone. You guys are ace.
I hope to god the oil light is related to the bad weather and is indeed lying. I am not looking forward to rebuilding a SVX motor!

Hi Mate,
The Car seems to be running well with no signs of misfire. :/
Not sure if swapping coilpack now will tell me anything else? I am reaching the early limits of technical apptitude. Which wasn't hard.
I now want to determine if the low oil presure light glow is truth or duff wiring from converting the wiring loom from an SVX into my camper.
I am told there is a guage I can attach to the oil presure switch which will give me an indication of what the oil presurre actually is?
I am not sure what it should be in all honesty..
Any pointers? Please

I thought I would just update this thread in case anyone has similar issue and conducts a search.
Thanks for all the helpful advice to the guys on the thread.
1. The misfire was caused by water ingress against the coil packs. Torrential rain on the m4 and going through a massive puddle like small ford caused it.
Coil packs are fine. Lots of wd40 and running the engine hot helped dry it out.
2. The oil pressure light was a lie. Water on the engine and the cable coming loose caused the light to glow dim. I earthed the lead and the oil light came on. Re-affixed it and it was all good.
Incidentally a 3.3 flat 6 does share parts with the 2.2 flat 4. The oil pressure switches are the same, however people charge more for the 3.3 part even though is the same.
