Got a very slight dent in the rear passenger door and some slight scratches from a parking accident.
Been quoted between £900 and £1100 for repair as it's aluminum.

Does this sound right, seems rather expensive.

You need to find your local small dent / scratch repair man. They usually run mobile and work out of a van. Sounds like something that can be repaired without major surgery so shouldn't cost you anywhere near what you have been quoted by a body repair garage.

I had a horrible dent repaired and paint done by my local car body specialist earlier this year and they were brilliant. Did an awesome job on the Aluminium bonnet of my S-Type Jag and cost considerably less than you've been quoted. What a rip-off your local garage is!!

Doesn't matter if it's aluminium or steel, and baring in mind Aluminium is softer and easier to work with you'd think it might be cheaper..lol..

Aluminium alloy is harder to work with than steel as it doesn't pop back to shape as easily. Having said that local bodyshop repaired my WRX's bonnet after hail damage for about £360 including a respray. Small dents can usually be pulled out by a mobile unit for about £60-100. By way of comparison, a new bonnet is £420 from Subaru, so your quote is massively excessive based on your description.

The local body shop sorted a rather large dent in my drivers side front door for about 200 quid (2005 WRX)...
