Check for smoke on boost or at start, and "Piston slap" (nasty noises from engine at idle).

Other than that, they should be solid and pull like a train past 3,000 rpm. I'd want Full service history and continuous record of milage (MOTS/service history all adding up).

Wicked mate. The guy selling it says it has all the paperwork and receipts, so hopefully that will be the case.
My main concern is as you mention, smoke or piston slap.

2000? Is it a Classic or an early Bugeye?
Make sure the timing belt has been done ( off memory I think it's the 50k service) as it's an expensive one , approx £450/500
Good luck! smile

Its a classic shape :-)

It had belts done 2 years ago, in line with the seervice schedule i imagine (has receipt im told), however I reckon I will get it done again to be on the safe side.

Nice, same colour as mine too. Makes a change from the WR Blue......though I'm tempted to get mine wrapped in WR blue.

I like the darker blue (no idea what the official colour is called?) Needs some gold alloys though I think.

Nah, keep it visually discreet and spend the £££'s on making it go like the devil.

Looks nice. Do like a nice classic Imprezle.
