On my 2004 Forester, not sure if the same on the Impreza.

I noticed the temp gauge rising rapidly yesterday so stopped to let it cool down at idle.

On inspection there is steam coming out of the top left (as you look it it) of the radiator. It seems to be coming from a part of the rad where some electrical connections go into it.

Any thoughts on this? Is it likely to be a hole in the radiator or maybe a connection somewhere?

If it's not a leaking cap/cover or plug/connector that you can replace it will be terminal failure for the rad and require replacement. Easy job to do though. smile

I'm thinking it may be the thermostat, does anyone know where this is located?

The thermostat is usually bottom front right hand side of the engine where the big bottom rad hose connects.
