Help pls..Annoying creaking noise from tailgate of my scoob

Hi ,
I have a Hawkeye Wagon .
It's a great car apart from the creaks and rattles!
2 bad rattles I've managed to stop were coming from the catches that hold the backrest parts of the rear seats upright when in the normal position .. I simply jammed some material down the sides so that you had to give them a good shove to click them back upright.
The major problem I have seems to be a loud creaking noise when the car flexes, like when turning a corner, going round a roundabout ,or even reversing at an angle up my driveway. I have taken the cover off the inside of the tailgate , exposing the rear windscreen motor and electrics and tightened up any screws that were slack ( 3 out of the 4 with washers underneath them were a bit slack) but the noise still persists and it is driving me mad
I know it's silly but I cant help honing in on the noise!
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do or look for?
I will take pictures for anyone if it helps.. hell I'm even tempted to go mad with a can of WD40!

This is what i've just answered to your post on the JFR Hawkeye thread.
Have a look at your rear dampers/springs/top mounts. Might need some of the bushes re-greasing. Check out your rear ARB as well and re-grease those bushes.
You can also get a kit to lock down both front and rear sub-frames to the chassis.
The wagons shouldn't creak due to flexing because they are meant to be considerably stiffer than 4dr cars, it may just be something on the suspension.

I am happy to have a go myself at doing stuff, I just don't really know what to do or have many tools.
I have a set of ramps and wonder if I could do some regreasing of the bushes ..Is this plausable or do I have to take it off the ground so the suspension drops if u kno wht I mean? And finally what grease is best and do I just go mad with it?

Altho I kno damn all I have been under the cars to change exhausts and I just remembered the AR bar at the very back.. I bet thats what the noise is!!
Silly question ..just for a quick test.. would WD40 liberally sprayed temporarily cure it without damaging it?
Scrap that Just had a look and that ARB isnt where I thought it was ,seems a fair bit like into the boot area .. could still swear the noise is coming from the tailgate / very back of the car ..

I still think it's it's suspension related but it's easy enough to check and see if it's a tailgate issue.
I'd say it was unlikely to be the body flexing, these newage wagons are very stiff indeed. Could be loose or dry rear damper top mounts having a bit of a creak, they may be dry.
Don't use WD40, use either General Purpose No.2 Grease or White Grease.

Don't say that...Nothing thick about asking a question. You don't know if you don't ask.
Better go to an indie Subaru specialist than a normal garage. The indie will know their way around your car instinctively and should have a good idea once they have road tested your car as to what the problem is.
If i had a limited number of tools and really didn't want to do the job i would just go to the indie specialist. There are a number of indie specialists that do nothing more than just mechanical work, no tuning or remapping, these are the ones to go to. Costs will be reasonable and problems quickly sorted.

The rattles were there when the seat backrests were in their normal position. If I flatten them ie lift up the knobs and drop them , the rattles went away. So my crude method is I put the backs back up but wedged some padding ( anything.. I used a couple of dusters each side ) between the backrest and the plastic cover with the clip that they rest against to hold them in place ..the lower the padding the harder it was to push them back upright .ie instead of the backrest just "dropping" back into it's upright position you have to push it as the padding almost stops it "clicking" back.
