This must surely be a common question, but I live in a small town, with limited selection of tyre vendors. Was offered some Goodyear fuelmax and also Eagle GTs. Didn't think much of the fuelmax via reviews; the GTs are better but reviews for both tyres mention noise as a big factor (and sometimes uneven wear/ poor balancing). This is putting me off.

What are the alternatives? I only need a 3 season tyre as I run dedicated snow/ice tyre in winter.

Syron Race 1 Plus - Very quiet, excellent wear, good in deep standing water at speed. Treadwear 400 rating.

Bought them again because we got great wear out of the first ones we bought the year previous. They grip really well to in the dry, no complaints about them at all. Partner drives 30K miles a year for work and she drives and brakes very smoothly, good driver and looks after her tyres.

The first set of Syron lasted 33K miles before we changed them. Rotate them every 7,500 miles and they should stay the course so you'll definitely get 30K from them if you don't drive like a hooligan.

Bought them in Germany online because it's considerably cheaper than trying to buy them here, they just take a little while to get here.

I dare say yours will be cheaper as they'll be smaller size than the ones i've linked here.

Not sure if the tyres are the same size but we use pirelli p zero Nero m&s tyres on our spec b. Ours are 215/45/18. They are £139 each from my tyres.

Wear seems good so far on the fronts which we've had for 10000 miles and car drives absolutely as well as summer tyres.

Not my thread, but thanks for the link. v cost effective in comparison with UK sites.

Everything like this in the UK is a rip-off. Tyres, after market engine parts, high end brake pads/rotors/calipers etc... With Germany's higher standard of living you'd think these things might be a bit more expensive there but quite the opposite. I suppose it helps a bit when the pound is relatively strong against the Euro. While it's like this though it's worth buying from mainland europe.

In future i'll just get tyres from Germany rather than mess about looking for bargains here.

I'm interested in your rotation comment. Is this front to rear?
I run an Outback 3.0 Rn on Yokohamas. Great grip but only about 20k before they need replacing. Mainly A road and M-way miles too.
30k would be a big saving for me so I'd welcome your advice.

Front to back every 7,500 miles.

The Jag is very good on tyres generally, and it helps not being 4x4, plus my partners driving style is very smooth so every bit helps. These are though a 400 treadwear rated summer tyre so they are designed to be long lived.

Don't expect the kind of grip levels you might get with a top end UHP summer tyre although it has to be said for the money and the fact they aren't a premium tyre they are not bad and VFM.

Through deep standing water at motorway speeds they are extremely good and with the amount of wet weather we get they are well worth having just for that.

If you decide to get them i hope they suit your car. I've no idea what they are like on a Subaru.
