Advice please on the WRX
Discussion
About to buy a Subaru (or Clio 197 if all else fails)
It'll be a WRX...insurance will be £1500 (sadly) but I am 21 so thats very good!
Looking at models like this http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3932720.htm (I'd have to get those god awful stickers removed though).
Few questions now
Realistic MPG
Realistic opinions on what it'll be like to live with daily (my classic mini being my weekend car)
And whats the maximum milage I'd want to consider? Budget of strictly £5500.

Mine used to do low 20's mpg and struggled up towards 30mpg if driving off boost on the motorway (50-60mph). Trackdays 8-10mpg.It'll be a WRX...insurance will be £1500 (sadly) but I am 21 so thats very good!

Lived with mine daily for 4 years, no problem at all. Very reliable and good everyday car.
Buy on condition, not mileage.
Mid 20's for mixed driving. My WRX PPP returned 34MPG on a run (being careful that is). Great car, and better than an STi if your looking for a daily (I have had an STi too). Very reliable and in my 4 years of ownership over 2 cars the only issue I ever had was a split rad hose.
Personally I like low mileage cars, despite the old 'by on condition' adage. However, I have seen these cars do north of 100K easily.

Getting 26-28 Mpg across a tank in mixed driving in my 2005 2.0 WRX PPP
Absolutely fine as a daily driver, it's trying NOT to drive it everywhere thats the problem!
There was another thread in the last few weeks with a load of good advice on Newage WRX's.
Check that cambelt has been done inside of 50k miles or 5 years and tha it has Full service history and receipts.
I got my Wagon from a dealer for £5,500 with 52k miles, FSH, leather and the Prodrive pack earlier this year ,saloons tend to be a bit cheaper.

Has it been modified?
Apart from the stickers (which the dealer did for some reason? Showed me pics of it before) no, just a better CD player with bluetooth. Oh and a tracker but no performance mods.

The exhaust isn't stock, looks similar to a Prodrive backbox which is no bad thing.
Stock one has a twin peashooter affair that really muffles the burble.
Looks good though and will look even better if you get shut of all those stickers
He said they're factory fitted things so I'm guessing he classed ProDrive as factory. Which it kind of is..There is full service history and receipts so I can check. Stock one has a twin peashooter affair that really muffles the burble.

A map makes a massive difference to the WRX. Do consider it. It really transforms the WRX...
I've heard this, I live fairly local to MIJ performance/exhausts whatever you may call them so I've sent them an email enquiring. PSBuckshot said:

It'll be a nice bonus if it has the PPP fitted but you need to find out for the insurance. I just had the Prodrive back box on mine and the insurance was no extra.Manicminer said:

I'd have said the opposite with the Wagon being cheaper? Certainly was when i was looking for my saloon. Unless you specifically mean with PPP?Absolutely fine as a daily driver, it's trying NOT to drive it everywhere thats the problem!

Jokes aside, it will almost certainly be a great daily and looks like a good example, apart from the daft stickers that is!
Is the dealer taking them off for you?

They don't look bad in the flesh but there are too many for my taste.
Any guides on changing the cam belt or best to let a garage do it?
